A battery replacement notification appeared on the iDrive screen.
The car only has 50mi on the odometer, but was sitting at a detail shop getting wrapped and then transported across country. I believe not starting and driving the car for several weeks killed the 12v accessory battery.
Dealer quoted $750 for a new 12v accessory battery (under hood). The battery is only $250 but labor and coding comes to $750 (ridiculousness!). I'd prefer to install and code myself but without Bimmercode support for the G45 I'm not sure how to accomplish this.
Any advice is much appreciated!

Drive around for a few days and see what happens.
The detail shop/PPF installer should've had the battery on a tender as they probably keep the windows down etc. When mine was PPF etc it was on a tender and I laughed when I saw it. The shop owner said you'd be surprised on how the battery can die.

Seriously, there’s no warranty for this? Not even for the 50-mile battery? Factory BMW batteries usually last 6-8 years.

I’m having various issues on app and on initial notifications comes on idrive screen too. I been to dealer 2wise they said car is ok it just software issue and issue is gone after reset. There is some dodgy issue going on. There are few of posts already.
I suggest not to replace battery instead try reset car and see it’s come again. If the case it should be under warranty. If dealer refuses contact bmw headquarters

Try an independent that specializes in modern BMWs. $750.00 is absurd

RIDICULOUSthat any vehicle with just 50 miles would need a new battery for any reason. And if it does. BMW should put a new one in absolutely FREE.
No ifs, & or buts!
No reservations, restrictions, or excuses!

Many vehicles sit on the dealers lot, undriven for many weeks, and their batteries never die.

If the battery was only running for 50 miles there shouldn't be any coding required and a new battery should run fine with the "old" adaption values.

Every little thing needs to be re-coded. In the near future, every time you wash your car, it will need to be recoded. God bless modern technology. 😉

Code reset can be done with any OBD tool, like BlueDriver or ThinkDiag.
