Is it true M50 has no door sills? Just curious if there are any good options (other than getting the m performance part from BMW) for the owners here.

Thank you.

Where did you get the OEM part at the dealer? If not, can you share where I can buy them?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info. They look great. How hard are they to place ? Like is there a template that you can put down that makes sure it is in the correct position or is it by sight ?

They are fairly easy to place, but there is no template. I used paper tape to measure, but there is no exact correct position.

I used pictures from others and placed them and stood back. There is a line on the door sill so use that as a marker.

I did use touch up tape to hold em in place and see if it looks correct.
Then I used the same tape as a marker for start and used my eye to ensure it level which was not too bad

Maybe folks have exact template on here as they are pretty amazing what folks have on here- real enthusiast.

Some have performance ones which look nice as well but are more expensive so I took a cheaper option as mine is lease but wanted to add something.

To be honest, the carbon fiber sills look much cheaper looking than the aluminum. They could’ve designed the CF plates better.

I ordered the aluminum for that purpose and I have the M50. IMO, looks so much better.

I think the previous generation has clips and not just 3M tape on the back.

Yup, the G01 door sill area is different and uses several push clips to attach the trim, similar to this.

Bmw announced that modelyear 2026 M-Sports Trim will get doorsills.

No details yet about the look and if it will also be valid for rear doors or if it only accounts for the front.

Edit:

Latest rumor is they will be Aluminum. So curious if it will be the M-Sports sill allready available or the one from the chinese X3L G48

I installed them too... Still can’t believe they are not standard. My wife has a VW and that has standard metal door sill protectors.

I any case, i really like the looks, makes the car definitely feel more complete.

I am in europe - here is the link to the shop where I bought it:
