An image attached to this post, provided by the poster2025 M50 here with 2500 miles.

Today I’ve experienced an issue with a “check control” message on my screen saying vehicle is ready to drive… EVERY TIME the car came to a full stop, I let me foot off the brake the message would pop up with of course the notorious BMW message sound.

I did have auto start/stop disabled, first thing I do always. I reset the iDrive system twice with no resolution. I also restarted the car, locked it several times etc. nothing.

So reason why I think it’s the hybrid system is when I was backing into my garage. Typically in reverse the hybrid system kicks in. I couldn’t even get in my garage! The car would jerk and automatically shift into park. I put the car back in reverse, take my foot off the brake it would move half inch and automatically shift into park.

When I shifted the gears, I could really hear the transmission slamming into the gear.

I just gave up and left the car in the driveway.. I’ll let the car sleep overnight and hopefully it’s a one time glitch. Either way I’m calling BMW.

Has anyone experienced this with your car or any BMW? This is my first ever bmw and here I am dealing with the typical BMW issues it’s known for. Granted no car is perfect but at 2500 miles? Never have I ever had this issue with other luxury brands. (Excluding Benz lol)

**Update**

Car works perfectly again.

Let the car sit for 2 hours because I had a gut feeling it needed time away from my phone and reset itself and let me tell u why.

My detailer was washing my car for about 1.5 hours. During this time I kept walking back and forth from my car while scrolling social media, just walking around and talking to him while he was washing… I’ve noticed if your phone keeps triggering the car it will cause issues. If I keep my car in my garage, the next morning 9/10 times i have to restart the nav system because my HVAC controls will not show up.

I don’t have the option to unlock upon approach but I do have the setting set to unlock when I approach and touch the handle. NOW, I just deactivated the passive key option and it’s unfortunate. These cars should not “wake up” just because it senses the phone even at a distance. It should only wake up when I unlock the car.

I hope this solves the problem and considering I know about how my car reacts when it senses my phone, now turned off I’m sure it’ll be just fine.

Interesting. I haven't had this particular issue, but the passive key system has a couple of pretty dumb attributes. It has potential but not quite there, or at least I haven't figured out how to dial it properly.

Your door was not closed all the way.

All doors were closed. It was one of the things I did. Opened all doors and slammed them shut in case it was a sensor issue.

Clearly it was a software glitch.
