Anyone else noticed that the seats on the G45 are kind of uncomfortable compared to previous generation? Any recommendations for a good seat pad that can accommodate the ventilation?
I find that I feel a constant hotspot on the seams near the leg bolsters. This wasn't an issue on the previous generation. I'm just under 5'10" 190lbs so not huge though I do have big legs.
I think the seats are shaped just a little better in terms of how the head rests support you but I'm somewhat disappointed at the fact that because of the firmness and hotspots I'm never able to fully settle into the seats. I went on a short roadtrip (~2 hrs each way) the other day and I just never felt comfortable the way I did in the previous model.
It sucks because I love the vehicle otherwise.

I am 6.0 with 198lbs but i feel very comfortable in them… Especially with fine adjusted lumbar support.
But! I am not too happy with headrests. They are little to forward positioned.

I think the G45 seats are much better than the previous G01 seats.
Had the G01 for 5 years with leather sport seats and now the G45 with Merino leather seats since January.

I don't have a problem with the headrest position but I think they are very hard.

Thanks for sharing, when I first sat in a G45 I thought the seats were more comfortable than G01 but after owning G45 for a month I think I'd rather have the old seats. Maybe I just need to break them in more or something..

It may help in assessing the structure behind your head to understand that they are not “headrests”. They are head restraints intended to prevent/reduce rearward hyper-flexion of the neck. “Headrest” is a misnomer for a part of the vehicle’s passive restraint system. They are not intended as a resting support for comfort and are positioned in space based on rear impact testing to reduce rearward head motion. They should be raised or lowered to be behind the most rearward area of the skull. You don’t want the head restraint too low and become a rearward pivot point at your neck.

Yea for sure I get that but the ones on the previous model were a little softer and I appreciated it.

Firstof3 wroteThe new X3 seats have nice cushioning - my only gripe is I don't need such aggressive side bolsters. You want hard seats - go sit in a new Audi Q5. They are real leather but very stiff.Anyone else noticed that the seats on the G45 are kind of uncomfortable compared to previous generation? I don’t need a accident to go to hospital if my neck is constantly tilted forward due to design. I just named my discomfort…

.
Try lowering the seat a bit to relieve pressure on your thighs around the knees.
I'm also 178cm and 90kg (5'10" and 200 lbs).

If you think the problem is near the leg bolsters, maybe try putting an extra small air cushion there. That’s what I do. I prefer a more bucket seat shape, and by putting a small cushion there, it elevates my thighs. It’s more comfortable for me.

Firstof3 wroteBelow isn’t the exact model I have, but it is very similar. I know it says lumbar, put it underneath my thigh-legs. It’s a blow-up so I can make it firm or soft, depending on my preference. The only bad thing is it doesn’t stay put when I exit the vehicle, and sometimes falls out my door. Thanks for this, can you share which air cushion you use?

PS, you can probably simulate it for free, with a rolled towel in two elastic bands.
