The old Readly subscription can be a great thing to have and just saw this in Whatc Car when I saw the iX3 on the cover, which yes also go their 2026 car of the year award. Seems they have tested actual cars on UK roads.

No car is perfect but the iX3 did pretty darn well, post if you see any other reviews, this will probably come onto the internet’s soon so will post a link whe it does. Anyone else seen anything?

Someone pinged me as to what Readly is? Well years ago I was getting Autocar, Evo, the occasional AutoExpress, the odd Camera magazine and many more I spent a LOT. With Readly I get everything on the same release day as in the shops but delivered to my iPad and I can read past and current editions without the paper waste and for lots less than it was costing me.

You can even get international magazines and papers now if you want so for my usage it saves me a fortune. Worth a look if you do similar.

Here is the review now published on the WhatCar Website. Anyone spotted any others?

WhatCar BMW iX3 vs Tesla Model Y review.

Also where the hell are the GLC reviews, they haven’t even done a single road test review, have any journalists been in one, there are loads for the BMW nothing for the Merc and it’s on the road only weeks after, very odd.

Monty, if you think BMW has it bad just to put in perspective here’s what the new Electric Mustang(Mach-e) guys are facing if they want to upgrade their car with a price increased Mustang going from the 2022 to the 2025. Tell me where is the incentive of trading up.

Too late for me! I was going to test drive one before finally deciding on the iX3. But the iX3 is just so good and the GLC looks a bit too dubai bling for me!

(I've owned mercedes before and like them in general, ... so would have been quite happy)

So just a quick question, I live in an area which is almost on the Gulf of Mexico. Yes, I still called the Gulf of Mexico because that’s what it is. Question I have for you with you guys getting these overseas where it’s still actually cold. Have you addressed the question or have you looked into what happens if you get like a hard freeze and those door handles don’t pop out is that an issue or are they heated? Not a problem down here most of the time, but it does get cold.

As far as I understand they are not heated but have a system where they make several consecutive ”push out” attempts (3? 5?) if they don’t manage to deploy, i.e. almost like shaking/vibrating to break up the ice…

I live in Scandinavia where we have ”real” cold for a couple of months a year - still not too worried about that aspect, or at least have a hard time imagining that it will be worse than my current Tesla MY where I first have to find the handle area in the dark, then ”manually” try do force myself through a frozen handle - my guess is that the electric motor will have an easier time than my cold fingers…

Autocar in the UK have now done a complete review on UK roads, does pretty well and gets 4.5 starts which is rare for it these days.

From the comparison test:

"So let’s cut to the chase: the BMW iX3 stands head and shoulders above its rivals here. Only a couple of minor quality concerns and a firm ride mark the new electric SUV down; in nearly every other category it reigns supreme."

Very comprehensive review. Across all of the reviews, the ride quality seems to show a divergence of opinion, from magical to firm. My current iX has air suspension and that is probably the item I'm most anxious about in relation to my iX3 order.

I'm going from a fairly comfortable GV70 on 19" wheels with adaptive dampers who finds the 'sport' mode of my car far too uncomfortable so will let you know in about 2 weeks how the iX3 compares.
