Thanks for replies, sales rep advised against the solo due to issues his customers have had, also said that they won't fit it until you have taken delivery of car and had left customers waiting.

Hypervolt seems to get the best reviews and ownership from what I’ve seen. Got one being fitted for the new car.

I read today that Hive Energy who I assume make them is on the point of adminsitration. If so I would be wary.

May be correct they are now advertising the sync energy wall charger on the British gas site.

I've had the Easee One Charger for 4 years for my i4, not a single problem - reliable, feels high quality.

I've spent some time looking into this, but I find it all a bit confusing. This will be my first EV (so I'm going through a learning curve) and I haven't found UK dealers to be particularly knowledgeable.
An attraction of the iX3 for me is the V2H capability but: a) you need a charger that copes with bidirectional flows; and b) an energy provider/ network that allows this; and c) the functionality to be 'switched on' by the vehicle OEM; and d) for everything to successfully talk to each other and work together.
I've decided to slow down a bit and not be in a rush to get an early car - let others work stuff out!
Before I 'paused', I had landed on the Zaptec Go 2 charger as a good option. I'd been tipped off that Octopus would allow V2H with this charger but when I contacted them they advised it was under trial (and there was no option for me to join the trial).
FWIW, my understanding is that BMW offer a 'professional' wallbox in Europe, but not the UK, and that this supports V2H.
Any guidance/ insight that others have would be genuinely appreciated. I do have 3 phase supply and I have specified 'AC charging Professional'.

My understanding Where BMW iX3 V2H/V2G actually works - BMW has launched bidirectional charging (V2H and V2G) using the BMW Wallbox Professional (11 kW) plus a specific energy‑provider integration with E.ON - BUT This package currently runs in Germany only, with a dedicated V2G tariff and algorithm that manages charge/discharge and pays a bonus per hour connected and per kWh exported.

BMW’s own “How‑To” and launch material explicitly note that the V2G service is market‑specific and presently restricted to Germany with no advertised plans to roll this out into the UK.

Octopus's offering is tied to a few specific BYD models as i see right now and their partnership with BMW seems pretty weak atmo (just stopped being able to schedule charging from Octopus to BMW so thats annoying).

is that correct re BMW and Octopus? I specifically asked the head office team at my presentation whether the IX3 would work seamlessley with Octopus Inteligent Go and be able to smartly charge without any intermediary. Tey assured me it could. were they wrong?

I have been an Octopus customer for some time and when I purchased my iX1 in November 24 I was all set to go with their Intelligent Octopus Go product until at the last minute they said my car and home charger (Pod Point Solo 3S) were not compatable. I then had to "default" to their Octopus Go Product where off peak charging rate is 8.5p/kWh v 7.5p/kWh for IOG.

I am currently reviewing the market and so far it looks like EonNext is pretty good and they say my car and charger are compatable with their EV products. Awaiting Octopus updating me regarding compatability before deciding what to do.

I am not an expert to say yes or not, but as an i4 customer which did have this, Octopus sent me an email last week saying they longer fully support BMW and the capability will be restricted going forwards (i think it still works, but it is not integrated to the car only my charger) - so is a different tariff.

My comment on Octopus/BMW specifically was Octopus do no support BMW on their V2H/V2G trial, which is only with BYD I understand.
