In nearly all reviews the cars are equipped with the optional M trim (M Sport or M Sport Pro).
Personally I like the base edition more, especially the rear bumper looks a bit too busy for me.

I have the impression most people have (or would) order the M trim, or am I wrong?

Also, I didn't order the Iconic glow pack as I really don't like the horizontal LEDs behind the glass on the front.
Nowhere have I seen live photo's of the front without the optional pack. The only pic I have is from the configurator.
Has anyone seen the non-iconic glow version in real life? Any pics?

Cheers

In the UK I'd expect the vast majority of customers will go for M-Sport or Pro, but that won't be everyone a few other on here have ordered the base model.

I've seen a few shots of the base model without the grill but would need a bit of a search across a view YouTube videos to find them. You don't get 'that' much more with the higher models but for our market as I say that tends to be where most buyers go.

There are a few videos on Youtube from Britain with a blue base model released in the last few days. If you filter you should be able to find them. Personally I also went for the base model without Iconic Glow and I like it more then the M: The car appears wider thanks to the horizontal development of the black bands.

I'll take the Glow option, but without the M. I want the cornering lights and I don't like the taillights without the Glow option.

I wanted the M Sport, as the Pro has too much gloss black plastic IMO.

However, in the UK the M Sport Pro came with the M Sports seats (which gives you massage function), Iconic Glow (which gives you Matrix headlights) and the M Sport Wheel (which I prefer)

So it was cheaper for me to get that, than the M Sport and option all those things I wanted anyway.

Though I would have gone for the 8 way adjustable comfort seats over the M Sports seats if I had optioned it.

I'm aware of the taillights difference. And I have the cornering lights on my current iX3 and to be honest, hardly notice them while driving.

And damn, seeing these pictures makes me doubt my color choice (Space Silver) again :( .

I think I've seen those but they also had the glow option...

I've gone for the base version too as there was nothing I preferred on the m and m Sport
However I have added the glo option. Not because I have any interest in it but without it (at least in UK) you don't get matrix headlights and I would never be without them again. It wasn't obvious until my salesman warned me and I spent longer reading the detail on configurator

The iconic glow taillights might actually be the same exact taillight as the base and just coded to light up on the vertical features

I hope pictures and videos will be released soon so we can have some clarity.

Are there any functional upgrades included in the M trims, something that would affect handling, lighting or safety? All I see are cosmetic changes and seating. If that's the case I'm perplexed that an estimated 97% of buyers would upgrade.

In the UK the M Sport Pro is the only model that comes with matrix LED headlamps.

Average BMW fleet in the UK are m-sport spec. Looks is the primary driver, but also fleet value management - m-sport far more desirable second hand market - little interest in the base package (example is i4, you rarely if ever see a non-sport version).

With us, the improved lighting is included in the Glow package. And you can order it with all models. It's only included as standard with the Sport Pro.

And in the UK? :D

Yes, you can order it will all models, but its standard with Sport Pro.
