Have any of the new UK owners sorted out insrance yet?
If so how did it compare to previous car and who have you gone with?
I haven't started to look yet (i've got 3 months to wait) but a little nervous as at 77 companies seem to load premiums on EVs solely due to age. I have a clean record at the moment.

I had a play with this just for interest. Currently drive a G21 330i 4 yrs old at a premium of about £600 with extras like courtesy car. The comparison sites were giving me a comparable price of £800 for the IX3.

That being said an IX3 50 is a rather different beast and TBH I don't need or want 460Bhp and 4.3 second 0-60 times. I'm hoping an i3 Touring with a big battery and single motor will be my next car.

I’ve found BMW UK insurance product very expensive, somtimes lacking in cover, and usually it’s a subscription type service.

To be honest the performance numbers are not untypical of BMW’s, so shouldn’t affect things too much, as top speed is also considerably lower than some BMW’s.

It’s hard to fathom insurance as there are so many variables linked to the individual, but my current X3, with performance is a similar range, but higher top speed is £450, but the total excess is £700, and that’s protected NCB, pano glass covered on windscreen basis etc

The other thing to check is that windscreen cover extends to all glass, including a pano roof if fitted. Some insurers cover the pano glass under windscreen, hence lower excess, and it doesn’t impact NCB.

I'm 43 and my GV70 with business mileage and my wife on the insurance is over £1000 (due to renew on April 13th)

For the iX3 when I used a UK numberplate from a photo of a registered M Sport Pro on a UK comparison site my best results were about £550

When I put the vehicle in with no numberplate, it went up about £100 per annum.

Edit - Those results were with 'Hastings Insurance' who aren't exactly rated highly according to Reddit, though their Trustpilot score is fine.

I regret peeping here - I pay more for my motorcycle, and I pay about £2000 for my X5 and it's considered cheap here in Ontario

Before placing my order I checked with my insurance (admiral). I currently have my i4 edrive40 mspro with them at 700 a year. They quoted 640 to swap an ix3 there and then so I went ahead with the order.

I tried for quotes using a reg no from a video. Best I got was £930 from Hastings Direct. Aged 77, Essex, clean record, 16,000 miles a year. It does seem that age pushes it up a lot. However this is till less than my existing Poletar 2.
