Same trip back was with 3 little children in the back and a full loaded trunk. 150kmh, 140kmh and 130kmh, not bad i think.

edit: Just a shame that windshield hasn't acoustic protection, the wind noise is annoying, even my old peugeot 207 has that.
You sure the windscreen doesn't have it? I thought all cars do.

I know the side windows don't have it, which isn't great.

The recent Autocar review had 70mph at 66db and the lowest they have had in the same class was a Volvo at 65db, both were below the class average for noise at a cruising speed.

All front windscreens are laminated, side windows not always.

Thanks, that is what I thought.

My GV70 has acoustic laminated glass in the front cabin side windows, but not the back. The back ones was an optional extra though if you wanted it

Modern windscreen are usually laminated , but acoustic windscreens also have additional sound film as part of the lamination process. IIRC the G05 acoustic windscreens is .4mm thicker than the normal laminated windscreen.

Laminated acoustic glass is relatively expensive, which is probably the primary reason BMW didn’t use it at this model level.

Good result!
I've ordered iX3 M sport, space silver with 1047 rims. Reading various reviews by youtubers or real owners, everything is more or less acceptable by now-there are some things which would surely annoy me,but I think I could live with them.
However,my main concern is the wind and road noise in the cabin. Many of reviewers complain about it,so did you. Since this is a real deal breaker for me,please describe the feeling and the level of the cabin noise when driving at highway speed 130-150km/h. Is it too much,or is it just a humm, can you make normal conversation or it makes it difficult to talk or listen to music at normal sound levels? Also, please advise the tire brand, since it may have a considerable impact on the cabin noise. Thanks
Mine has hankook 20 inch 1047 rims as well, I don't think i ever noticed any road noise. And to be fair it has been very windy since yesterday, You can have a normal conversation with no problems, is not that bad, and listening to music can help camouflage that noise, it seemed to make no difference of that Whoosh noise at 140kmh or 170kmh. It just makes no sense to me that a car so good in so many ways doesn't have acoustic windshield, i would go for that 1000x instead of ventilated seats for example.

Seems to be the case as it reduces drag not adds to it (depending on the design obviously.)
I think Cayenne EV has active aero for that reason

He experienced some challenges though with the 400 kW charging, so that the battery temperature rose to 57 C and throttled the charging speed??
Makes sense. I am wondering about the measurements of iX at same speeds.

Roof box about 10%, less of you mount it backwards.

Bike on bike rack 20-30% hit at least.
What does it mean to mount it backwards?

Pointy end towards the rear, not the front. Seems a little counter intuitive but it has been tested and confirmed by a few different people.

The original video i remembered was from Bjorn but as i skimmed over it now I realize that it isn't the exact same box in the before and after.
Needless to say it will depend on the exact box used, the angle the roof racks give it if not perfectly flat, and possibly the vehicle used.bThe one used by Dave here has an angle on the thicker side that direct the airflow towards the windshield whereas a flatter or rounded off one would probably do a bit better.

The TLDR of Bjorn's video is this:

I watched both videos. The reversed box in the second video is indeed a box specifically designed to be mounted backwards. Thus, I would expect a normal box would be best mounted as normal.

It will depend on the exact shape of each and every box and possibly even the vehicle it is used on; the reversed box in Bjorn's video doesn't look super odd and could be representative of many other boxes out there in terms of aerodynamics. I think if your box doesn't have the angle on the thick side that the OOS video one has, it is worth trying to reverse it to see especially if I were to leave the thing installed even when not really using it like many people tend to do.

The real takeaway is just how much more drag these kind of boxes add and how finding one that is more aerodynamic is worthwhile, whether you drive an EV or gas car and I'd argue even more important for a gas car. It costs you a decent chunk of change to leave it on all the time. For an EV the cost would only really be high on road trips given the typical cost of DCFC being much higher than your normal home charging.

most aero shape is a teardrop. fat in front, tapers to the back. everything that follows this shape is aero. doesn't matter if the design was intentional or accidental.
