Thought I would start a dedicated thread rather than use the 'First drive reviews are here' one

Firstly want to say, I'm not an impatient person, but there's various factors in play as to why I could do with the car ASAP.

My current contract hired (leased) Genesis GV70 is on a contract extension which is soon running out, and my insurance on that vehicle ends on April 13th, so I would rather not have to renew or insure it for a few additional weeks, if necessary.

All dates below confirmed by BMW Genius live chat.

11th March - Vin number received
18th March - Status Code 155 (Production complete)
27th March - Status code 193 (Arrived at Port of Exit)

This is where it gets confusing. The status code hasn't updated since Friday 27th March and yet I was told on Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April that the car was "at sea"

However, this morning, the BMW Genius told me:

"The last updated location is Cuxhaven, Germany. The status code changes to 195 once a vehicle is at sea and once it arrives in the UK, the field that shows Cuxhaven will then change to Southampton and the status code will revert back to 193."

And

"It is estimated to be delivered to your chosen BMW Centre on the week starting on 13 April2026. Although this may be subject to change."

So I'm very much in the dark about where the car really is at the moment.

Secondly, my dealer yesterday told me that even though the car is saying it will be with them on 13th April, I shouldn't expect to receive it until "Late April or Early May". However, until I know it's in the UK and cleared customs I can't really badger them about getting it, as it's out of their hands.

I'm very glad to hear that robe033's user avatarrobe033 is receiving their vehicle next Wednesday, but has anybody else had similar to the above?

Thats very normal, goes into a bit of a black hole between leaving Cuxhaven and arriving in the UK and being full booked in and going through customs. As long as you don't need an update I'm sure you will see it soon enough!

I think that is the imponderable that means they can't give a definitive date it might be sooner hopefully. I mentioned in a few of the other threads that this often happens with new models its was exactly the same with the new X1 with stop holds, that had an early issue that entire motors had to be replaced on the PHEV models You can imagine how that went down, brand new car and the entire rear sub assembly removed in the dealer.....

Mine was in Cuxhaven for ages showing an update to control unit was required, Mindi at BMW Genius managed to get a priority shipment for me, then hounded BMW to get update done and again to get it transported to dealer.
If not for Mindi I believe car would still be in Cuxhaven

Two different Geniuses told me it was "at sea" on Monday and Tuesday.

The last two are adamant it's still at Cuxhaven.

Delivery date changed from week commencing 13th April to specifically Thursday 23rd April

Geniuses said they can't help, have to speak to dealer.

Disappointing :(

"Your BMW is now temporarily in storage in the UK, awaiting despatch to your chosen Centre"

What's everyone's personal experience from that message to getting their car?

Yeah this often happens on new models, takes a while to iron out the suppliers, early software of manufacture issues.

Should have taken your advice.

By chance I got Mindi on my chat today and she's liaising with both my dealer and BMW sales planning. No other chat people offered this.

Mindi is brilliant, she will get it sorted. I had an email from BMW today offering me compensation

Latest update - "Your vehicle is currently being held as part of a quality campaign for programming. The team is awaiting further programming data from BMW AG so that the necessary work can be completed and the vehicle can then be released to your chosen BMW Centre."

April 29th is the delivery date now. 2 weeks later than originally advised by the Genius chat (though roughly when my dealer said it might arrive)

So frustrating. Wonder what software they are waiting for, Mine had to wait for software release, wonder if there is more to come

Haven't had an update since last Thursday, when they said:
Your chosen BMW Centre is enrolled in the PDI programme and uses a dedicated portal to request vehicles.

When they place a request in that portal, the system shows them the earliest available delivery date.

Your chosen BMW Centre needs to request the car as soon as it appears in their system as “available for delivery”.

At that stage, they may be able to bring the delivery date forward. However, this cannot be guaranteed, as the final scheduling is outside the direct control of BMW Customer Services.
I can see using this link: https://www.bmwgroup.com/en/general/regulations/recall/recall-english.html

That it still needs the updates: Recall code: 0017290200, 0061660900.

So the dealer can't request it, until Southampton VDC get to updating the software. It's our of their hands.
