I didn't see this question in any of the other threads, but has anyone found out if the Driving Assistance Professional option can be added after purchase?

I could see adding later if they release improvements over time, but I'm not ready to pay $2500 at launch. However, I'm not sure if the $2500 includes extra hardware that can't be upgraded later.

I was going to reach out to my dealer and ask if no else has heard.
All cars have all the hardware.

Can you add the option later? That I don't know.

Canadians have to pay 1500CAD for "Driving Assistant Plus & Highway Assistant" (that is on top of the 4900CAD Premium Package which includes the basic Driving Assistant Plus). No breakdown of what features are included though, but I'm guessing it's equivalent to Driving Assistance Professional available in the USA.

Anyway I also have the same question - it's also frustratingly limited to 4 years of use as well. On previous BMW's it was 2500USD for 8 years.

If the hardware is indeed included - instead of paying the upfront cost, how would it compare if we just pay on a month by month basis?
I thought you couldn’t add DA pro after because they needed to add all the sensors to the build. My dealer said that. Who knows if it’s true

I think some of the interviews seem to have said yes you can enable it post build I thought. One of the BMWBlog videos with a BMW rep after launch.
In Europe you can take it afterwards. All cars have all the hardware. 350 a year or 35 euro a month. Off course US prices will be different
According to Claude, which is slightly more reliable than the dealer, hardware is in the build. I hope that it is. I may be one of those people that enables DAP after the fact As long as I can still pay $2500 for four years and not $52 a month

My dealer said something similar, but I'm not confident they really know. They just wanted me to add it to my build.

We still have some time before builds lock, so I'll wait and see if more info comes out from BMW.
I just found this video on YouTube with the head of BMW's ADAS Functions, and he said at 6:00 in, that all of the hardware comes standard and you can upgrade later.

Thank you for this

I don't drive eligible highways often so I'll enable DAPr for road trips only, if a month-to-month option is available. $2,500 + eventual subscription is too much to pay to occasionally avoid keeping a finger on the steering wheel. That said, I have DAPP on my current iX and very much appreciate it on long interstate drives.

Hmmm. Other posters have noticed that Canadians are ordering iX3s for about $5000 less (in USD terms) than US residents. But the Canadian version doesn't include Driving Assistant plus, which is standard in the US.. and Canadians have to pay 4900 CAD to get DA+ in a package with other stuff. Apparently the US tariffs aren't the only variable in the US vs. Canada iX3 pricing. I'd be curious to see an apples to oranges comparison of US and Canadian iX3 pricing and packages to see who really gets more or pays less.

When I have done the exercise of comparing in the past, sometimes Canadians pay less, sometimes Americans pay less. Due to the hurdles in place preventing buying cross border they don't need to match the prices across borders.so even if spec for spec the Canadian car is cheaper at today's exchange rate, you can't conclude that the difference is due to tariffs.
Kyle from Out of Spec asks and notes how great the iX3 allows you to add it afterwards as it adds more value to a car in the used market afterwards. Timestamped his note here but its detailed further more in the video. (It is at :35 secs in) I cant figure out timestamps on this forum lol

…and what about Parking Assistant Professional? Including remote control parking and saved maneuvers
Are we expecting Driving Assist Professional to offer true hands free on highways? Something like Blue Cruise or Supercruise? Havent had a BMW but my Porsche requires me to grab my wheel after 10 or so seconds. Same for a Genesis I had.
That's the idea. Hands off driving with no need to touch the wheel

It tracks your eyes so you still have to watch the road though.
Can someone explain to me how the car will behave on the highway with the standard function driving assistant. We are a 3 Tesla family, so we basically have basic autopilot in 2 vehicles and full self driving in 1 vehicle. Just trying to gauge is the standard driving assistant similar to base autopilot?

No it doesn't, and he's constantly wrong about this kind of thing.
