I can't believe I'm saying this, but I may be sitting in the "nice to have but not needed" camp.... We have had some hotter days in Germany, and yes the ventilated seats are nice.... however I have found that the cooling effect is not that pronounced and it is accompanied by the very audible sound of a fan on the seat... like I said, it could be a completely different story based on being in a much hotter climate, but here in Germany I would tick it in the nice to have category.....
Do you still run them despite these feelings? If so, try purposefully going without them. I’ve found myself thinking similar with prior BMWs but realize when missing the sweaty back / legs is far worse.

TBC-for the OP- I’m speaking of prior cars. I don’t find the m50 noisy at all and the ventilation works better than my prior x5 50e. Tho preconditioning on battery in that car was much better :).
I do run them given that I listen to music at a "spirited" volume! as crazy as it sounds in this weather, I sometimes find myself using the seat heaters instead because it feels good on my old man back!

You're another person mentioning seat fan noise. I don't hear any noise from mine at all, I specifically paid attention to it after reading several comments like that.
Coming back to the cooling topic, I think that besides the ventilated seats, an equally useful or perhaps even more useful feature in this car is the ability to remotely start the climate control and schedule cabin pre-conditioning. On warm days, I set my departure time in the MyBMW app, and I get into a cool car, which is a fantastic feature.
I haven’t noticed seat fan noise because it’s hidden nicely by the ventilation fans in the vehicle. I can’t think of a time I only the seats for vehicle climate comfort.
One can argue against ventilated seats, but I, personally, am happy with ours and intend for my next vehicle to have that option. Do not enjoy a cold face and a sweaty back.
I heard that on G01 ventilated seats were uncomfortable/hard, compared to non-ventilated. Is this also the case for G45 or has this been fixed? Thanks.

Not at all...

It’s much, much better in the G45. They’re proper seats.

My G01 had ventilated leather and you sat on the seat rather than in it. I was still ok on road trips but they weren’t nearly as comfortable as the non-ventilated seats.

my g45 ventilated is far more comfortable than myg01 non ventilated. I always put a towel on the g01 seat.
I don't think it's a must have. I didn't order it because usually it makes the seat cushions firmer.

I got the merino leather seats and I don't miss the ventilation.

Thanks - glad to hear. Do you have merino or veganza?

Our G45 is in the garage 99% of the time when we start her up so there is no need for ventilated seats.

On those occasions where the car is out in the sun- like a parking lot or visiting a friend's house- an iPhone swipe and a tap on the BMW widget and the AC is on full blast giving us an icy cockpit when we enter the car a couple of minutes later.

I had the ventilated seats on an X3 M, they were OK, not a Must Have.

I thought of them more as "Merino Leather Fragrance" enhancers, as blowing air through the leather enhanced that nice leather smell in the car.

can you adjust temp from the app or does it default to setting when last used?

No, that iPhone widget is for remote start on my ICE which starts the engine and cools the car in the process. I think my car has pre-ventilation too, but I never use it.

Defaults to last setting I believe. I only use the widget when I'm more than 50 feet from the car. When I'm in my home and heading to the garage, I'll just use the digital key in my Apple Wallet (above).
