That front black moustache just looks odd. In fact the non M looks better in this regard. Noticed in the Chinese market the front is a blend of M and non M, which looks better.

I don’t know what looks worse, the front or the back. Nothing makes sense in this design

Probably leftover buttons they used from a $100k G60....LOL.

Just look at the G60/new M5 to see how they will scaling the cost cutting measures on all models. If they are doing it on that car, they sure as hell will be doing it on everything beneath a G60/M5.

This is precisely why I bought a 7 series despite the fact it's ugly in some colors....couldn't deal with all the cost cutting stuff on the G60.

My eyes tell me it’s a nice-looking car, but my brain reminds me that it shares the same outdated exterior design, tricking me into thinking it’s a few years old car.

Besides all the other design issues pointed by others, the worst issue and the biggest deal breaker is the headrest. The forward angle is so ergonomically inappropriate that is going to cause cervical spine issues. One of the reasons BMWs have been great in the past is the adjustable headrests. This headrest is so poorly designed that it is actually dangerous.

(except the silly tire and rim choice, my bad not realizing staggered summer performance tires, placed my order for Pilot 4 A/S for) another bonus of getting m40i is that nobody can say is it new body or old body since there is no m40i anymore and m50 is a gimmick on X3.

This new x3 is nothing like X3 which has always been a mini x5. Now it's something odd. Front, back, inside.. It looks bloated, yet too light in looks. Side profile looks incomplete. Interior feels like a Kia/Hyundai. I hope it drives better than it looks. Is there any possibility it drives better than outgoing m40i with this body shape?
I did the same thing as you. I saw the pre-production photos and ordered a 2024 x3 M40 while I still could.

The exterior looks great especially the rear.
I dislike the red bit at the top of the steering wheel. Unnecessary distraction in the field of view ahead.

The more I look at this, the more I wish BMW would just make full-M already. I know it won't happen, but a girl can dream, right?

Are you kidding? Most BMW buyers have been blind to this garbage for over a decade now....they'll buy anything with a BMW badge on it and pay top dollar. It's sad.

I get what your saying but there is nothing purist about an M SUV...

Expect the MX3 to get a loud front end to distinguish it from the other models.

It's a totally different steering wheel compared to the G8x. Different airbag shape, buttons are different, and there is no leather on the airbag.

This thing is ugly. Bulbous everywhere. Like an athlete in a fat suit. My iX is ugly but there are benefits to this, such as it’s not a Tesla.

BMW has a wildly different customer base than even 10 years ago... the G80 M3 proves that... 10 years ago an AWD automatic M3 was heresy.. especially at a weight of nearly 4k lbs... and an M5 that weighs more than an F150? c'mon...

Interior is a fail. Looks too vast and cheap, something should have been done with the upper dash to give it some character.
