You see "Louwman" on the back of most Toyota and Lexus cars in NL. The Louwman family owns (or owned) the right to import Toyotas in NL.

It's a great venue and a great collection. It's actually one of largest PRIVATE collections around.

The collection changes at least quarterly. Last winter I went to see the Silver Arrows. I think that the Martini Racing collection is there now. Needless to say, I'm pleased that the place is 3 miles from my house.

^^Thanks for that bit of Louwman family history. I had no idea. This museum is really one of the TOP museums in Europe.

I'm thinking of going back there again.

Arrow From 17 March to 21 June, the Dutch King's Glass Carriage

Celebrating 200 years of the Dutch Kingdom. Today is exactly 200 years since William I, became King of the Netherlands.

The Glass Carriage is the oldest preserved coach of the Royal Stables. King William I - ordered it in 1821 at the Brussels carriage builder Pierre Simons, who delivered it in 1826. The carriage will be used on special occasions. In the past, see the example at the wedding of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard and the marriage of Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus.

From 17 March to 21 June, the Glass Carriage and exhibition on the restoration in the Louwman Museum will be displayed. # Glass Carriage

I was thinking just the other day, that I should go back to the Louwman Museum for another visit. It is THE nicest private auto museum I have been to in Europe!! And as you know... I've been to a "few" museums.

Well... I just saw this video today and another trip to NL's might be in order...

Yes! The Black Forrest(SchwartzWald in German) is a very nice place to drive around in. You know this area is FAMOUS for Black Forrest cake and Kukko Clocks! The city of Treiberg is ground zero for those clocks. They also have a very nice waterfall there to see.

Maybe visit the off beat Marxzell Museum ?

Fahrzeugmuseums Marxzell - near Stuttgart, Germany
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=790929

Also near by is the Unimog Museum and MB factory where the old G-Wagon's are built.

My advice would be to drive to the city of Baden-Baden. This is a very posh place with Casinos and old school wealth. The town literally means Bath-Bath, bc of its mineral spa's in this area. Then follow the B500 South. This road isn't that long, but its a nice drive.

B500 Deutsche Alpine Hoch Strasse and stay over night at the Mummelsee Hotel. Or at the very least stop there for some "coffee and cake"!! There isn't much in the Mummelsee but the hotel and souvenir shop, but its a nice place for a break. The hotel is very nice and I would stay there again in a hearbeat!

So the route I would recommend would be...

Baden-Baden ---> Mummelsee ---> Triberg --->Schönenberg

https://www.google.de/maps/dir/Mumme...9853!3e0?hl=en

Schopfheim is a small quiet town near the Swiss border(but its still in Germany so nice rooms with NICE cheap prices. A few kilometers further South you'd likely pay double or triple for the same room/food.

In Schopfheim I have stayed at both of these hotels. The first one is very nice, a bit pricey, but the food was excellent. The rooms were a little quirky. I really enjoyed the second hotel Zum Waldhueter. The only downside is they only serve breakfast. But we just walked down the street(200 meters) to the first hotel for dinner. I really liked the Zum Waldhueter bc its a remodeled country farm house. It was very nice place to stay. Lots of wood and very quaint cottage.

And lastly... IF you will drive near Geneva, Switzerland... I discovered the small city of Annecy, France. It is SUCH an awesome city. Really worth an over night stay/stop.

Also depending on the time of year(most Alpina Passes are closed in the Winter/early Sping) I would say go and drive the Furka Pass. Its such a awesome driving road. IF you have seen the James Bond film Goldfinger... you will recognize this pass.

Dackelone!!!

Astonishing! Thanks Mil for your kindness and for so many tips and clarification! Amazing! I'm pretty sure that next month when I'm driving to Madonna I will come across some of the places you mentioned!

I just book one day more as myself and my partner want to enjoy some of the places you recommend and we most likely will spend some time in our way to Madonna such in our way back to Netherlands.

Many many thanks!

I've replied you in some other posts as I'm kind of excited and I'm seriously thinking this year in spending my holidays driving my bimmer throughout some of the most beautiful roads in the world next to you ...

You're very lucky guy to have this in close distance - I think i'll spend there loads of time if I lived next to that paradise ...
