I'll chime in - looked at the Evoque myself - liked it, but felt once you started adding it all up, def a little padded on the price. Value of what you were getting wasn't there. It was a very nice drive, power was adequate at best, but it was no where near what I felt a fair price should be. Think of fully loaded and blinged out Ford Explorer plus 10K. One thing I don't know is how reliable or serviceable by owner these new ones are - I'm still leary of any 4 banger with turbo engine.
I had owned previously a 2002 LR Discovery 2 (completely different ballpark compared to Evoque) and loved every minute of it. It did have its electrical gremlins once in a while (door locks, window actuators) however, 270,000 miles later, the engine and drive train was still bullet proof. Preventative and required maintenance all performed by myself outside of warranty. Very user serviceable if you could halfway turn a wrench and use the internet forums to follow along. I sold it to an ex in a split up back in 2011 - and still miss it everytime I think of how much I really enjoyed driving it and how solid it felt on and off-road. I always felt safe inside.

I used to like it when it first came out but got bored now.
I much prefer Macan but then price gap is too big I guess... considering RR gives out good discount on Evoque but Macan won't have any better discount then maybe $1000 off MSRP for next 3 years. |

Evoque, over priced and underpowered. Handles poorly offroad and on road. At least the real land rovers (discovery, rang rover) hold themselves together in real off road situation.
Macan is a much better choice (probably best handling and best looking SUV right now), but you certainly pays for that. But again, no one else can give you a crossover with twin turbos and DCT transmission. Audi Q5 is quite bit cheaper (but less power, no DCT transmission, etc.), but still unsure about VW/Audi reliability. BMW X3 would be great if it wasn't so ugly... Hell, might just as well get a Infiniti FX or whatever they call it these days after they want to name everything with a Q.

I test drove one years ago and felt the engine lacked any oomph. Sounded and felt wind up. I liked the styling/aesthetics inside and out, although felt a little feminine.
I owned several Jeep Grand Cherokee Overlands in the past and nothing will beat these for bang the buck. Great styling, nice interiors, great engines and they can climb a wall with their 4x4 and traction systems. I weathered some serious snow in the Midwest and nothing came close to stopping it. Classy car for the money! We now have a sweet X6, but I always catch myself looking at the GCs when I see them. |

I think the Evoque is a nice commuter car/vehicle. Great styling, a good road presense. My neighbor has black on black; looks pimp.
