F82 M4 Laguna Seca Hot Lap Result for Motor Trend 2014 Best Driver's Car

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Pro driver Randy Pobst hot laps the 2015 BMW M4 around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for Motor Trend's 2014 Best Driver's Car.

BMW M4: 1:39.69

Here's some more results from Motor Trend.

"Motor Trend took these three cars out to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with resident race car driver Randy Pobst to set some lap times. Around the 2.2-mile circuit, the 731 hp F12 posted the fastest lap time of 1:38.04, but the Stingray and the 911 were close behind managing a time of 1:38.28 and a 1:39.00, respectively, despite their disadvantages in power."

Quite fast if you ask me!

Considering that is faster than any M3 listed in M3Forum Road Course LapTimes (many of which had coilovers, race pads/brakes, and r-compound's), that's pretty impressive! This car has great track potential.

Carrera S 2 years ago with Randy at the wheel was 139.3.

Randy also says a "big improvement" over the e92!

Great showing!

I was in Austin this weekend for the Tudor racing. Got some access to the racers and chatted with Shelby Blackstock (BMW racer and Reba's son). He said they were working on the M4's that will be running these races next year and he's had a lot of seat time in them. He's extremely excited about the car and couldn't have gotten me more excited for mine.

If anyone has a chance to attend this type of racing, please do. You wont forget it.

Little over 1/2 second behind a 911C2S is proof that this M4 is an impressive street and track car. Really excited now that the temperatures are going down here in Texas. Colder, denser air =more HP.

So nice to see the car driven fast without the constant wide slides. I'm so tired of seeing cars being drifted as a measure on how fun they are. Good time but the Stingray is once again the over achiever. So cool to see a U.S. car dishing it out.

That was very good. But how the hell does he see with that gopro directly in the point of view! Wow! Must have the track memorized.

A step forward.

Great result. Would be nice to see BMW launch the (hopefully) affordable competition option pack and see a further improvement in the lap time. I drove the car 2 weeks ago over a long weekend and had nothing but smiles. Welcome back BMW M.

That Stingray time though. Wow! The new Z06 is going to be impressive. BMW did an amazing job with the M4. Can't wait until 5 years from now when they 400/500lbs from the M5 and M6 and give them over 600hp.

I feel like the video could have benefited from some monologue or a post hot lap wrap up.. talking during the lap may be perceived as Randy not trying hard enough but to me this is a step backward from previous years.

Very impressive, but it is also interesting that this track is an equalizer of more powerful cars.

That's a really good point and something most people should understand. However at the end of the day, a car that can carry 4 adults and cargo is a serious achievement when it can get that close to a Vette or a 911. I guess how close is a moot point as maybe only 3 guys on this forum can really get these cars that close to these times anyway.
