I will add though that the X3 breakdown is closer than the overall BMW lineup breakdown of 5:1 (sold in China vs US).

For 2023, 156,000 X3s were sold in China vs 63,172 X3s in the US, which brings the ratio down to 2.5:1 (we like our SUVs in the States)!

Yeah, it's better to have your mass market car mistaken for luxury vs the other way around!

So true! I can recall working very early in my career on the marketing launch of the Mark VII. When the new Mark came out after the completely new T-Bird was launched and established, the general reaction was that it "looked like the T-Bird". That didn't help. We always wondered how that would have gone if the sequence had been reversed and if the 'Bird would have been seen as "everyman's" Mark VII.

I saw a Skoda earlier in the week that I also mistook for a new G45. The bonnet (hood) was identical.
