I use to have 997 turbo, sold it and driving E90 M3. from my experience i find the M3 more fun more daily drive. The Porsche was not the type of car that you would love more when u drive it more... unlike the M3.
In Jordan streets have low traction and cars tend slip and drift without any stress on the engine, However for the 911 no matter what tires i used the understeer was always present.
Maybe if we had better tarmac quality i would have enjoined it more. (plus u can never really drift!! the car traction control system always manages to kick in, regardless of what buttons you press)

That's odd, I'm under the impression the 911 makes the E90 look like a chump.

Its a different kind of ride....you can drive a E9x M3 past the limit, drift it, slide it around with a fair amount of confidence...thats not something you can so easily do in a 911. The 997 turbo will be a faster more capable car but not necessarily more fun. I'd still have one though.

Pretty sure a base 911 would be more than a E90 could handle.

What is a "pre-991" 997 Porsche 911? Did the 991 (GT2) not come before the 997 (GT3)?

All the best.
There is no 991 GT2, it's due in 2018 I think. 991 is the current generation, 997 was the previous. Most people want the 997 due to manual option and hydraulic steering.

Having driven the 997 and 991, the 991 is amazing enough overall that I don't think the type of steering matters much... to me anyway The steering in the 991 GTS (and I would presume the GT3) is pretty damn good IMO and the 991 is a lot better from my perspective than the 997 in terms of the overall platform. Obviously subjective but I thought the 991 was a notably better overall car and I'd sacrifice the steering to have one vs. a 997.

My favorite car of all times. Don't even care what kind it is. I'll take a 2006, the cheapest one, or whatever I can afford. But yes, I'll definitely have one. And my wife knows about it (and approves!).

I think what he meant - the 911 is more car than any E9X, but you also have to be more driver to fully experience what the car is capable of....

IMO - the E9X M 'assists' less experienced drivers whereas the 911 will just kill you.

Fair enough, but I'm with P1 here. I LOVE the 911, I'll take any of them, can't wait to own one...one day.

I'll rephrase for you... Porsche is very expensive.

Whether it is "overpriced" is subjective and suggests it doesn't provide value equal to price. My experience with the car is the high price is worth it for what you get. It won't be worth it to everyone and, yes, there is a brand premium IMO but, again, worth the experience.

It's hard to keep up.....when I got the 335 coupe, non S boxsters were 47k. Yesterday, a Boxster S was 94K, and a CaymanGT4 was over 100. I think 160 should get you a 911 turbo out the door/equipped. Guess again

No manual option for the GT3 isn't something a lot of people want to give up. It's the combination of steering and transmission, not just steering. I have no doubt they are both amazing, but I have a feeling the 997 GT3 is more engaging and harder to drive, which means it'll be more rewarding when you get everything right.

To answer the original question, I can see my self getting a Porsche but only after I have a Ferrari.

That's why I only commented on steering because, as you state, some people REALLY want a MT. You are also right in that the 991 is easier to put up better numbers in and easier to drive (some will equate that to less engaging... I don't find it so myself). I personally prefer the feel of the 991 to the 997 but that is subjective.

IMO, a 991 GTS with a MT is a decent substitute to a GT3 in the 911 lineup if a MT is a big deal AND you want a 991. If someone isn't tracking their car, then the GTS may be a good compromise to a GT3.

Absolutely. But only a 997 GT3 or GT3 RS. Orange or Green. No other variant will do.

The F82 works well for most of my miles, but I sure do regret not getting the F80 daily.

The hippie in me would kill me if I had multiple cars. Having the two I have makes me feel like the biggest waster of resources ever, and I'm running away from home in a week or so just to proof we do need two cars in our family.
