wow i go out of town and come back to this gem? your friend is a colossal moron. especially in a fucking CASINO?!!!? are you fucking serious? bank calls casino, casino has CCTV that rivals the government, casino rolls back tape to ATM (which isn't the first time a colossal moron has tried to pull the whole 'oh some dirty thief stole my card' trick), friend is seen taking out a wad of cash, friend is then seen pissing it away on other cameras, friend probably used a player's card, friend is fucked. the best outcome could be him calling the card company and just saying 'oh JK!!!' and taking the hit without them threatening legal action in return. that bank will probably drop you like a hot potato, but this is seriously stupid. i hope you aren't the friend, because it sounds pretty suspect, but grab yer britches.

Now is the time for 'friend' to explain it away as a mistake for claiming fraud. This will not take them long to figure out, whether or not it wasn't big money. We've reached a new level of total retard. |

big money or not, the casinos pay people to investigate fraud. $2k might be piss in a bucket at the end of the day, but there's some dudes paid to hunt fraud out in the casino AND the bank. the casino will defend their bottom line to the dollar, just like any business. it's not hard for the casino to even take a small screen cap and email that to the bank. bank already has ID on file.

Your 'friend' is probably OK until he signs the paperwork which the bank sends. Once that signed piece of paper arrives on some bank workers desk you/he are completely fucked, it will be in the system and there will be no turning back. My advice is to shred that form when it arrives.

I think it depends on the bank. I've only had to start the process of a cc chargeback once before and it required the bank sending out paperwork for me to sign. I called it in and they asked for the transaction date and amount and told me paperwork would arrive for me to sign shortly. I think on larger amounts they like to have their paper trail in order before starting the process.

People will try to chargeback even small amounts (ie. less than $50) for a variety of reasons. You'd be surprised at how many times people even challenge charges that I have a signed and totalled copy of. The credit card company will provide a request to the casino verifying the transaction. In today's day and age it will be a matter of moments before the casino can provide the verification. If your friend claims the signature is a forgery, it will be only a few moments more before the casino pulls the surveillance video and tracks it from there. I'm going to guess that your "friend" was staying at the casino as well (as who goes to a different casino and pulls that kind of cash....you want to get rated at your own hotel so you can take advantage of comps ![]() At the end of the day you are or your "friend" is a total toolbag and about to find out what being charged with a crime is all about. |

LOL nice find, but I quit already.
You never win in gambling. ![]() I talked to my friend about it and told him to just pay the bill; he's saying how are they going to know for sure the guy was him and he was wearing a hat, and even if they find out what are/can they do? Sue or tell the cops to go to his house? I know my friend sounds like a douche, but he's been going through some tough times this year. He's a really good friend.
