I feel you pain Spool. Imagine having road rash like that or worse over 30% of your body (in some cases 3rd degree burns). Then imagine a visit to the hospital to have all the gravel cleaned out of these wounds with a scrub (bristle) brush. Pain meds don't work to well when the nerve endings are exposed ....

Alot of riders initially put their dominant foot down when they freak.... bad idea your knee socket immediately disintegrates

Just make sure that organ donation card is filled out...there is a shortage of donor organs...
Seriously...my best friend is a C5/6 quadraplegic...he was going 25 mph in a residential neighborhood and an older lady backed out of her driveway and that was that... My counsin's husband was coming home from work at 3 pm on a clear sunny day...45 mph on a 4 lane main road...a 82 year old turned right in front of him...he died on the scene The problem isn't the bikes...it is everyone else Safe riding

its reality.... its not messed up.... go on any bike forum, youll likely get the same responses except theyll try to talk you out of a 600cc sportbike and into something more forgiving...

I started out on a 600...back then i bought the bike without knowing how to start it or where the clutch was. I went online and read up on how to get it to work and i pushed it into my backyard and wore tons of clothes incase i fall. After a day i was out in my neighborhood riding on asphalt, by 2nd day tried to cope with traffic on main roads..and by the 5th day i was on the highway...then i took the MSF course and here i am now.
You can start on any size bike you want, your maturity will decide how well you're going to do in your riding career.. my first bike, 5 years ago...after i slipped one time i found out sweat was easier to clean up than blood...so just make sure you wear your gear when u ride..no matter how short the ride is..

I am sorry to have spooked you...but my motivation is real...motorcycles are dangerous...and not only because of rider error...but because of the fact that many drivers don't see you...want to know what ER docs and nurses call motorcycle riders???? organ donors
Ride safe... Neurorad...want to share some images from your teaching file for this one???

I started about the same way spool, except mine was on my current '97 7R and on a residential road (not any traffic) The first day I rode it home on the highway and through some congestion... not recommended (turning takes some getting used to).
As long as you know your boundries and don't try to impress people by being stupid you should be fine.

So what you are saying is it's not the vehicle, it's the gender?

its alright man, its just that I KNOW how dangerous bikes are, and I know how easy it is to get hurt or killed. I dont need to be reminded of it and I dont need to be hearing about donating organs and shit like that especially when Im getting my first bike very shortly. I've heard the expression dozens of times. Im going to ride with extreme caution and I'll take it easy as well as wear all the necessary gear. I appreciate your concern though

One last negative remark....I had a friend that did her residency in a hospital and the staff called bike riders organ donors....
I hope that you'll get a bike, get the need for speed feeling out of your system in a year or two then sell it or track only. Alright lets end this thread, the more I see it on the OT board the MORE I feel tempted to buy another bike...I mean bicycle... |
