If Gen Coupe comes with Bottle of Kimchi then I'm SOLD!!!
Hyundai has come a long way, I'm starting to like their cars more now. My dad once said "Driving Hyundai is like riding a car with marching band. Every plastic pieces will eventually rattle make awful harmony. I fucking hate it!" BTW we are Korean But after test driving Equus completely shut him up. Hyundai is doing something right...and they will only get better. |

Agreed I'm currently stationed in korea and Hyundai has come a long way. The Equus is nice but i'd prefer a Euro over it just due to the name. I mean I think the Equus over here sells at damn near the same price as other high end models. The Genesis coupe isn't bad at all i drove the 3.8 6 speed and kinda enjoyed it. Only problem I have buying it is the name.

At the $22k mark, there's not much else out there other than maybe the Mustang V6 that can seat 5 and is Right Wheel Drive (well, not until that new Toyobaru comes out at least). Personally, I would rather spend some more money and get myself something with more oomph (or more comfort if I were looking at the 3.8). My friend has a 2.0T track, and it's a pretty fun car to tool around in, and pretty good value. Not everyone can have mommy and daddy pay for a Bimmer (or help with the maintenance costs of owning), after all. The 2.0T (especially with a 10 year warranty) makes a lot of sense for those fresh out of school who would rather not spend the next few years in debt paying off their Bavarian toy and would rather have RWD (something the MS3, GTI, Si, Cooper S, etc. doesn't have).

Shit i wish i had a mommy and daddy to buy a bimmer. Hell gotta love deployments. Get blown up make some money get blown up spend money on car haha. But ya its a nice looking car and not that bad. But I have to agree with what was said by others alot of korean car companies look at other companies for design basics. Over here they believe whats hot in the rest of the world will be hot here and its true. Samsung even has cars in korea and they looked at copying the altimas and so on.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the 2.0T engine from the Genesis has the same bottom end as an Evo. Naturally it's a different head and turbo size but it gives you the power potential with upgrades, I have seen one with close to 400 WHP...
Btw, just to speak for overall Hyundai design and how far it's gone, I challenge anyone to drive the new 2011 Elantra and compare it to a civic, mazda3, corolla or anything else in that class. I had one for a rental and was thoroughly surprised. Last edited by Q4P; 06-15-2011 at 03:37 PM.. Reason: added more info |
