Any chance you could ask if 19" M698 wheels, which came standard on the G01 M40i, would fit the new M50? Hoping to use as a winter set. Thanks.

That might be a stretch They're there for some questions but I doubt it I can get all the fine details ironed out with a product manager.

Mavus,, you should check out the Audi SQ5, but as per my dealer, they may show up 6 months later? also, I compared the spec with G45... CD for SQ5 is 0.34 vs G45 0.27.. A new car in 2025 still at 0.34, did Audi have a wind tunnel????
I just back from UK,, and saw the new Q6 etron.. the interior is very similar to SQ5, I do worry that small panel on the door for memory, light and mirror control, people will use it as a handle to close the door.... anyway, it will take me some time in adjusting towards all control via screen.. with Audi or BMW, they all heading that direction hb,,, Good Review Last edited by Stockwell; 09-23-2024 at 04:41 PM.. |

One thing I will say is that the iDrive screen finally looks semi-integrated into the dash, unlike the "lol slap the iPad with a kickstand into a 3 series" of the last few years.

Here's a review that showcases the G45 next to all the prior generation X3's:

For people live in Canada... I won't consider Honda/Acura product (always show up in Insurance Company top list of Stolen model). Also, most insurance will ask for additional insurance charge $$$. I do like Gensis GV70 and tested the V6 model... drive OK... until the sales guy told me US will get new Infotainment system (TOUCH SCREEN) in 2025,,, but Canada will continue with the old one. ALSO, that ugly steering wheel, I mean the one with one big bar across... not the sport 3 spoke which only available to certain model.
Anyway, I am committed to X3 M50 for now!! |

From the Sunday Times UK
Sounds good, doesn’t it? But then you slip into the driving seat, and it all goes sideways very quickly. Getting in is fine, and the sportily sculpted seats are perfectly pleasant, even with the sustainable fabric that feels a bit rough but is otherwise comfortable. You’re greeted by a cleanly designed and minimalist new dashboard that’s topped with a massive screen housing, and there’s lots of ambient lighting all over the place. And then you close the door… At that point, things start to unravel, because the handle built into the arm rest feels terribly cheap. The sort of cheapness we kind of accepted in the Volkswagen Up! a decade ago, but certainly won’t tolerate in a premium SUV today. And once your hand has recoiled from the tackiness in the manner of a 21st Century Jack Sparrow picking up dog dirt, you realise most of the door card feels equally low-rent. The arm rest itself is fine, but the plastic on the top of the door is no better than acceptable, and the door catch is dire. It’s thin and lightweight, the texture is naff and the whole thing feels like it’s made from old wheelie bins. It even makes the same noise as a wheelie bin lid closing when you let it spring back into place. Were that the end of the X3’s interior woes, we might let it off and view the whole thing as an oversight that will be fixed at the next update, but the problems run deeper than that. There’s a strange multi-function switch panel next to the door catch that feels just as cheap and insecure, while the plastic panel on the lower part of the dashboard is tacky and unpleasant. So too are the shift paddles behind the steering wheel and the air vent controls, which feel lightweight and fiddly. Oh, and the glovebox is crummy, too. - the plastic handles to open the door from the interior better be super strong! I've broken at least one interior Camry door handle when I opted not to use the dedicated bar for closing the door (bar doesn't appear to be an option for the G45). - G45 was "quiet" during the video review but that was a German spec G45, which may have followed the UK spec that had acoustic glass standard (at least in the G01 days). Jury still out on the US version? - I said the AC vents looked appropriate for the interior of the Death Star but I fear it may follow the trend of more recent BMWs in the lack of AC power. The G45 introduction coincides with Fall for the US so the lack of AC may be obscured until late spring/early summer! - the HK audio system wasn't really covered in depth. Should we assume same spec as before? There may be some audiophiles who are wondering if it'll play multichannel FLAC files or did they boot that to the more expensive Bowers and Wilkins option available only on X5 and up? I know the GLC recently underwent such a transformation where you can no longer play such files on the base Burmester audio. |
