Detailed specifications for G45 X3 from the Future BMW Models Thread.

G45 X3
  • In production 08/24-10/33
  • This is the traditional X3 with gas, diesel, and hybrid versions. The full EV role is going to the Neue Klasse. There will still be X3M (G97).
  • Intro models: Worldwide 20d xDrive, 20 xDrive, 30e xDrive, M50 xDrive; US 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive.
  • 03/25: Adding worldwide 20 (no x). This will likely complete the model lineup.
  • No new engines, making a step up in luxury (standard comfort access, optional Iconic Glow exterior like on the next 5 series, fancier interior materials, driver aids matching the current X5 - also means no L3 autonomy, the best audio is still HK, ID8 dash).
  • M50x specifics: standard M Sport suspension (adaptive optional), standard Iconic Glow, 20" wheels, and the usual M interior and exterior parts.
  • Known colors: Dark Graphite, Black Sapphire, Arctic Race Blue, Mineral White, Mineral Red, Skyscraper Gray, Brooklyn Gray.
  • Specifications:
    - Length: 4755mm
    - Width w/o mirrors: 1920mm
    - Height: 1660mm
    - Wheelbase: 2865mm
    - Leg Room: 1021mm front, 923mm rear
    - Luggage volume: 570l/1700l
    - Curb weight: 20dx - 1890kg, 20x - 1855kg, M50x EU - 1980kg, 30x US - 1894kg, M50x US - 2057kg
    - Towing capacity: 20dx, M50x EU - 2500kg, 20x - 2400kg, 30x US - 1815kg, M50x US - 2200kg
    - Tires: 225/60R18 square base models, 30x - 245/50R19 square, M50x - 255/45R20 front + 285/40R20 rear or 255/40R21+285/35R21.

Euro M50 should be heavier because of the OPF but for some odd reason US M50 is around 180lbs(77kg) heavier than EU M50.
Also tows way less than the EU M50. Very odd or the specs aren’t right.

Why are they using m50i instead of m40i? 40 is traditionally the B58 and 50 has meant a V8.

This vehicle is perhaps the reason why BMW NA will not bring any Touring models to the US. In SoCal, X3s are literally everywhere. The new design will most likely continue to sell just as well.

Man. I'm in norcal and it's almost the same up here too. Lol I was in Torrance and Glendale few weeks ago , though , and I can say you're right af.
That said, I have a '16 x5 but after driving that the x3 just seems so small 😅

That'd be better tbh. Can't justify the tax on a newer x5

Hope BMW hurries up with the official reveal photos soon. I want to order a brand new X3 M40i right away if the new one is ugly & has that curved screen with the kick stand on the dashboard + no buttons for the HVAC controls. I still think the current version is one of the last of greats & in the sweet spot of their new & controversial design language.

Numbers of M-performance models like M50 indicate closest 100’s of horsepower. Ie M50 has close to 500 hp. M40 had close to 400 hp. M60 like the i5 has close to 600 hp.

what?

There will be no X3 outside of an X3M that has remotely close to 400 hp or above...

The x5 m60i has identical power to the years prior m50i at 523hp... the name moniker has no reasonable meaning anymore outside of saying 50 is just the top power version below a true m... however its not true for V8s because those are now 60s

No. They moved it to m50 for one reason…..money. They will charge more for the m50.

Do we have any idea what better interior materials will mean? Any chance they use the x5 seats both standard with the choice of multi contour?

I know the X3 sell like hotcakes but in my experience the X3 has been the most poorly built vehicle in the lineup. Hopefully they improved and I'm looking forward to see the X3M

Suspect it has more to do with how Mnfrs report DIN, EU, and Curb wts. It is confusing so back in 2019 tried to clarify the differences - https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1624835 . Maybe it implies the US M50x is stuck with the heavy pano as standard equipment whereas EU and elsewhere that's an option again? Just a guess, though, as there wasn't that marked a diff between reported EU and US Curb in the G01 it seems.

Here's an attempt at an early spreadsheet comparison:

Really? I see no real flaws - it’s not better or worse than other BMW models with regards to build quality. Definitely a lot better than the GLC, but that’s not saying much. Hahahah
