The G65 will start production in August of 2026. Originally there was not going to be an M60 but BMWNA successfully persuaded BMWAG to make it for the US. The M60e will be the top model however it is not clear yet whether it will be coming to the US.

You know BMW has a problem on its hands when people have to post that the car is not is bad as they expected.

Will it have a V8? G30 forum was at one point speculating what a G60 M560 would look like but it never happened. Only the i5 M60 and coming 550e, which doesn’t have a V8.

The M60 will have the V8 but the M60e will be a PHEV with an I6.

Or in other words, the new X3 offends none and excites just as many.

I just saw the X3 at the dealer and can't wait to drive it. The MPG went up significantly so I assume the odd shape of this rear end has a lot to do with drag coefficient. Also, the mild hybrid helps with stop-start (City driving). As far as the looks, I kinda like the front end, but do not like the looks of the rear. Reminds me of a small Rounded back Buick (Encore) or a GLA Merc. Someone mentioned the Range Rover- That also. While I don't like the side profile either my decision on a purchase would be based on comfort, drive, and other factors (Dealing with fewer knobs and buttons, I drive etc.)

I personally did not like Dune grey

trying to decide between red and alpine white on the X3 m50, is the red accurate in the picture?

Your best bet is to look at a bunch of Google Images of Vegas Red 5 Series; most of "Vegas Red BMW" search results are a toss up of Vegas and Melbourne Red, so tread carefully. It's certainly a dynamic red in person; if it's dark out, it's relatively bland, but if it's in direct light, it's a really nice red.

There’s a dune grey at my dealer. I want to see it in person. What didn’t you like about it? I’m on the fence with my opinion on it.

I really like the Bernina grey and Alvite grey/Champaign Quartz they did on the sedans in the previous gen. So I guess I’m partial to brown-ish cars.

IMO , Dune looked great in videos but IRL , it was just ok for me

I might just go with Alpine white , should contrast well with all the M50 black trim and wheels

I can see that. My dealer also has a white one with the tan merino leather option. I really want to see that in person, too.

Tan Merino leather ?

Didn’t know BMW offered tan in the G45. I’ve only seen the mustard’ish/orange/amber colour with grey contest, and that’s defo not tan.

Yeah, that’s it. Just being lazy in my description. It seems brown enough to be called brown.

Tartufo also has an orange quality to it, but I’d still call it a brown.

The G45 colour is called Amber, kinda has a mustard tone, not brown, and it’s different Tartufo, which is closer to tan brown.

Right. We’ve got tartufo in our X7.

I also saw the M3 orange the other day. Liked it more than I thought.

Point is, I don’t mind a touch of orange if it’s closer to a brown or tan. I just wouldn’t want bright orange.

I think Audi does red interior better than BMW because it’s darker and gets closer to a dark brown than a bright red.

Because looking at both cars, and knowing a bit about manufacturing costs, I think the new one would cost more to build. As I mentioned before, plastic material cost is minuscule compared to all upgrades in this car- as just the screen & CPU delta should be more than whatever cents they've saved (if any) on all the buttons and plastics inside; let alone all the engine and drivetrain improvements which are even more expensive to implement and build. So I'd love to see where I'm wrong.

Old X3 is slower, less efficient, it has low-grade screens that are worst than 10 year old iPhones with dated idrive7, it rattles everywhere (The most common complaint).
You couldn't be more wrong.

Buttons cost way more than having it on a screen. Buttons require a wiring harness, connectors and mating connectors. They have to be robust to last and the mfg has to stock the parts for many years. This is adds cost not only to the car but to the parts bin for warranty and repairs. Putting buttons on a screen is FREE. It's just software (typing). The screen is already there. So why don't you tell us what the BOM cost is for a button assembly with wiring harness and the labor cost of assembly vs typing some lines of code is.

Nobody in their right mind would call the old gen slow. The old gen screen has great resolution so you're just being obtuse. iDrive 7 shits all over iDrive8. You can't even get the tire pressure display on the speedo gauge in iDrive8 like you can in iDrive7.

So to sum up the new gen: looks like shit inside and out, has less features and costs more. But hur dur it's faster by 0.0004 seconds to 60. Except it's not faster than my X3MC either.

You can't be more wrong. Button is just the interface.
Wiring harness, connectors are still there.
The new one is better in and out, has more features, and faster.

Unfortunately the leather colour is limited to amber or black on the G45, and even then it’s combined with light grey, so nothing close to brown or tan, unless you go with the Expresso Brown plastic seat finish.

Looking at the new Audi SQ5, the interior looks far more premium than the G45 interior, but so do some much cheaper marques.

Audi does interior really well, I think. I tested a S5 Sportback and a M440. Comparable models, I think. The M440 was more fun to drive but the S5 felt nicer in the interior.

The wires are still there even though the 1-8 buttons and climate control buttons got removed? Comical. Mechanical button wires are not the same as a simple flex cable coming from a touchscreen. You can have a million buttons on the touchscreen and still use the same simple flex cable. Not so with mechanical buttons.

It looks like a hearse wagon. The side looks like a blob that got dented in. The door handles are cheap looking. No opening sunroof, no puddle lights, no anything that's actually useful in daily use. That's not the definition of more features.

I don’t think it looks bad. But the only way I’m buying a car without an opening sunroof is if it has an “M” followed by a single digit.
