Self parking while outside the car is great when the parking space is too tight to exit when parked.

Just make sure the cars either side are also self parking or can open their drivers doors, otherwise expect damage for the privilege when returning lol.
Tbh for this reason I've only ever used the remote parking on my iX when leaving, not entering. Not to mention it takes a few seconds to boot it up and get it going so if anyone is around me it would be kinda annoying. But the few times I've come back to my car and found someone parked so close I can't open the driver's door, it's been nice to be able to back the car out halfway so I can get in.

Edit to add: that Edmunds article is hardly a review, mostly just moaning about the steering wheel and air vents. Which I can understand are legitimate gripes, but did it really need its own article?

Uh, no, they don't. They all know they look stupid, but the YouTube algorithm gives better results when 1. There is a person's face in the thumbnail and 2. They are making silly expressions. Many creators have, outside of their videos in podcasts, etc., talked about what they need to do to "game" the YouTube algorithm and keep getting paid for making content. Bottom line, it's stupid and counterintuitive. George "Moto Man" actually killed his whole channel and started a new one with the exact same content because YouTube had basically put his channel in "view jail".

When you see pretty intelligent people doing something that looks stupid, maybe there is a deeper explanation......
You nailed a few points.

But as far as jail view, it's a myth. It usually means the content is not interesting enough. Happens to me also
Great product for appliance-seekers
I wouldn't say I am excited about this car, but it's nice to see EVs getting better.

Understood, just repeating what he said to Matt on the Smoking Tire podcast. The analyitics he saw when he relaunched his channel (engagement and subscriber engagement, etc.) was dramatic.

Not my world so I won't pretend to understand it all but give it a listen and see what you think. It's not the first time I've heard a creator say that their numbers have fallen off a cliff for no reason.

Tell me you've never driven a Model S 90D, Taycan, Lucid, etc. without telling me you've never driven one.

Try broadening your thinking.
Why must they go full Tesla with the giant screen....
I LOVE this thing.
My wife’s daily is a Volvo XC40 Recharge. Color me very interested. Might just be time for an upgrade.

I hear you but there is no such thing as no reason. You constantly need to reinvent yourself. Like now, the first 30 seconds are crucial. If not enough engagement, video won't get pushed.

His new channel does kinda the same.

It ain't easy and some people don't appreciate the work that goes into this work. I get yelled at on Youtube and website because of the ads 😂

Understand. Like I said, not my world and glad for that. You guys work pretty hard for what you get from YouTube.

My comment has nothing to do with it being an EV, and everything with it being another luxury-oriented crossover. I already know how this will drive.

On a side note, i've driven many EV sedans, including the Lucid on Angeles Crest Hwy...competent but not fun to toss around.

Do we know when we can start configuring (and when orders open)???
Also the pricing! I'm very interested in seeing where they price it at exactly. Never believed that they can price this under $60k. BMWUSA website initially worded it "under $60k" right after the world debut, but days later revised it to "starting around $60k".

Seeing the direct competition is the Audi Q6 at $65.8k , I think it will under cut it but not by much - my guess is $64k starting.

Yeah, this might be the way most people react but it’s stupid and emotional.

My wife has driven a PHEV Cayenne for the last almost 3 years. She loves the fact that it drives silently and she gets gas like every other month. But she doesn’t like how slow it is in EV mode nor the theoretical 35 mile range which is more like high 20’s.

In other words….shed be perfect for an EV. But she didn’t want to go full EV, despite the fact that we owned one, because….”what if?” The reality is the furthest this car has gone from Houston has been Dallas, an easy 1 stop trip (or none nowadays). So for 3 years she could have been driving an EV with more range and power.

But there was no Cayenne EV nor one of these that drove like she wanted. That is changing.

So yeah people scoff at EV’s but for non-enthusiasts that can plug in at home….they are just better. And if you can5 plug in at home and aren’t a road warrior, charging once a week at a DCFC isn’t a huge deal.
I feel like I am in crazy town, this thing looks absolutely TERRIBLE. Maybe it drives well, but my god its by far the ugliest thing BMW has ever produced.

They didn’t, BMW gives you a dashboard that spans the windshield plus the HUD. In my current i5 M60, I only use the larger screen for infotainment. Once you configure your preferred drive settings, there is no reason to access the screen.

Well a lot of future BMWs are going to be a derivative of the same design language so it’s get used to it, buy old or move to another make.

Im sure you are not alone, and many probably share your view. :(

I’m not locked to a brand, so when I like a BMW model, I buy it, and when I don’t like it, I buy something else.

Just vote with your wallet. :)
There is a lot to the purchase of any car. I got an Audi A6 years ago and it was terrible. Looked good but oh my it was soulless to drive over time. Didn’t know what corners were a BMW by contrast all of them I’ve had were great by comparison.

So it all depends what you focus on, many don’t even think about how a car drives only what it looks like or the image it has or kit it’s got. Each to their own.
