There is a lot to the purchase of any car. I got an Audi A6 years ago and it was terrible. Looked good but oh my it was soulless to drive over time. Didn’t know what corners were a BMW by contrast all of them I’ve had were great by comparison.

So it all depends what you focus on, many don’t even think about how a car drives only what it looks like or the image it has or kit it’s got. Each to their own.
It’s always a compromise based on personal priorities. There are other cars that handle better, sound better, are faster etc, hence its down to individual taste and priorities.

There are plenty of brands that sell plenty or cars, hence one size doesn’t fit all. :)

So true...this A6 was ours on delivery day, after my wife succumbed to interior/exterior design but before we also realized just how unreliable and poor was the quality. It lasted less than two years before we dumped it. Never again Audi.

Part way through some of these reviews, but this is getting closer to the top of my list for my next BMW. Can’t wait to test drive one.

Im sure you are not alone, and many probably share your view. :(

I’m not locked to a brand, so when I like a BMW model, I buy it, and when I don’t like it, I buy something else.
Same

I've had a few BMW's before, but I've also had VAG group cars, FORDS, Polestar, Genesis etc.

Never been locked to a brand either, and no I don't think the ix3 is the prettiest vehicle in photos and videos (It's hard to make a nice looking SUV IMO) but it's nice enough.

I care far less about how it looks parked outside my house and to onlookers than how it drives and how comfortable and useable it is.

I do very much like the EV experience though, having had two EVs now and the early buzz for this was very positive and now the reviews are out they are equally as positive.

It will be nice to drive a car with decent performance, decent handling and decent range. As an example I'd say my GV70 has luxury, comfort and relatively fast charging but it's handling and range leave a bit to be desired.

Usually with EV's you have to sacrifice at least one of those things. This ix3 seems like a vehicle in which you don't really have to compromise on any one thing.

It’s personal choice, and if it’s a company car, there are often factors that a private consumer doesn’t need to consider i.e. BIK, and some that company car uses don’t worry about i.e. depreciation, cost of money, keeping beyond an initial term etc.

The previous iX3 deprecation was epic for private PCP users, many just forced to hand the car back due to depreciation eating any planned equity. :(

For me it’s then also a case of assessing energy tariffs, as we use duel fuel, so cheaper electric for an EV, is sometimes offset by higher gas rates or electricity rates during peak times. Away from home charging is more expensive, and we don’t commute, but do travel away from home long distances regularly.
Another review for those that aren’t German go for some subtitles.

Test of consumption and charging with real numbers. Copy/paste/translate:

RANGE: "We drove the car in cold weather, about 2–5 degrees. On the highway, at speeds of 130–140 km/h, the consumption was 25.1 kWh/100 km, which means a highway range in cold weather of over 400 km. On national roads, at speeds of 80–100 km/h in Comfort mode, the consumption drops to 21.4 kWh/100 km, and if we engage Eco mode and drive more carefully, we reach 18.8 kWh/100 km, which is the equivalent of a real range of 600 km."

CHARGING: "We arrived with 15% of the battery. After just two minutes, the charging power reached a maximum of almost 373 kW (officially, 400 kW), at 46% of the battery the charging power was still over 300 kW, and at 80%, it was still charging with 122 kW.

The result was an average charging power of over 229 kW and a 15–80% charging time of 20 minutes and 32 seconds. This means that the standard 20–80% charge took about 15–16 minutes."
Robe do you have your car yet, if so how is it going?

No
It finally reached Cuxhaven on March 13th
Genius agents have told me it has arrived in Immingham, it is at sea, it is in Cuxhaven, it is at sea.
Unfortunately it is still in Cuxhaven.
Dealer sent screenshot showing it is due to arrive in Immingham yesterday, updated today showing due to arrive tomorrow.
So how long did that take from leaving the factory?

Keep us posted how long it takes to clear customer and get to your dealer.

Final assembly completed Feb 19th
Was in quality check until Mar 7th - Software update.
Left factory on Mar 11th
Arrived in Cuxhaven Mar 13th
Genius tells me it is on Stop waiting for control units to be programmed, Dealer does not believe this, thinks it would get programmed in UK distribution centre.
Will update tomorrow.
There are a lot of people on FB that have their cars on a stop hold waiting for updates in multiple countries. So there might be something to the delay. Some are in the UK and they won’t release them from the docks despite dealers requesting them to be release for them to update them later.

Hope it isn’t that and it’s already sorted with the earlier update and you get it soon.
Mine was on hold for 2 weeks, going to pick it up tomorrow with 28km on odometer.

Interesting

You would hope the screens in the parts bins would have the update already at some point.

Genius is chasing this for me now, has contacted BMW sales and BMW Shrewsbury, this resulted in car getting priority shipping.
Status is now 195 at sea.
Although it still needs software upgrade to control units.

Well, I got my new Mac book and the video don’t open up still. I guess it just does not like the iOS operating system.
Thats weird it works seamlessly for me, what doesn't work though is if you have a VPN running it won't work then YouTube doesn't like that. Pause the VPN and all is good.

I tried to disable it on my telephone. It wouldn’t let me do it. It kept coming back on gives me a half a message of what to do but then when I click on the message, it doesn’t take me anywhere to tell me what to do so I’m not gonna worry about it thank you I’ll try it on my laptop. See if there’s a VPN on there.
