Very interesting and somewhat confusing that some UK and EU customers are being told their deliveries are pushed into 2027 when BMWUSA has announced start of US deliveries for 25-Sep-2026. That date seems quite unrealistic if indeed there are enough production and software issues to delay EU deliveries into 2027. What am I missing?
Countries get separate production allocations. So there is a number of vehicles in the 2026 production run set aside for US, even if the UK/individual EU countries have sold out their allocation.

So, while the current issues may lead to some delays on the US side as well, US customers who order now are not just being added to the back of a global queue.

I was wondering the same thing.

Debrecen isn’t one global queue. Each market has its own allocation, hardware set, software load, and QC path. The EU/RHD delays are tied to their components and ports. The U.S. NA5 stream is separate and already reserved for the 25‑Sep‑2026 launch, so EU delays don’t push U.S. builds to the back.
Well my car was delivery stopped but the Vin shows no active recall so I'm unsure what to think. All I know is I can go look at my car but I can't take it.
I found this:

Yes, this issue is absolutely being reported elsewhere, and it is directly tied to the new generation "Neue Klasse" BMW iX3. url="https://www.bmwblog.com/2026/03/12/bmw-ix3-production-already-running-double-shifts/"]1, 2[/url
Recent discussions on Reddit's iX3 Community and Bimmerpost highlight that a massive number of UK buyers—particularly those ordering via salary sacrifice lease schemes like yours—are seeing their estimated times of arrival (ETAs) dramatically pushed back from mid-2026 all the way to February 2027. url="https://www.reddit.com/r/iX3/comments/1s5vs0j/for_those_in_the_uk_what_is_your_expected/"]1[/url
The severe delays are caused by a combination of a massive initial demand spike and underlying factory allocation constraints:
1. The iX3 is Massively Oversold /b]1[b
The main driver behind the delay is that BMW significantly underestimated how popular the new electric platform would be. url="https://www.reddit.com/r/iX3/comments/1s5vs0j/for_those_in_the_uk_what_is_your_expected/"]1[/url
 • According to global manufacturing reports, the all-new iX3 captured over 50,000 orders in Europebefore cars even hit showrooms for test drives.
 • It is accounting for over a third of all electric BMW orders on the continent, causing the entire 2026 production capacity to sell out entirely by early spring. [1, 2, 3]
2. Supply Chains and Plant Bottlenecks
The new iX3 is being manufactured at BMW's brand-new facility in Debrecen, Hungary, which is their very first factory dedicated purely to EVs. url="https://evdances.com/blogs/news/bmw-ix3-gets-50-000-orders-in-europe-before-test-drives-begin"]1, 2[/url
 • While BMW rapidly added an extra manufacturing shift to double production, the plant is still ramping up to full capacity.
 • Component supply shortages—specifically the changed central control unit hardware that is currently holding your car at port—have restricted how quickly new car allocations can be built. [1, 2, 3, 4]
3. The Salary Sacrifice Factor
On the forums, the specific jump from a July 2026 ETA to February 2027 is hitting fleet and salary sacrifice buyers hard. url="https://www.reddit.com/r/iX3/comments/1s5vs0j/for_those_in_the_uk_what_is_your_expected/"]1, 2[/url
Because lease companies buy cars in bulk, they rely on pre-allocated dealer build slots. If a leasing company's initial batch of build slots is exhausted due to these global supply constraints, any new or unconfirmed orders are automatically bumped to the next major production cycle. For the iX3, that next available build slot allocation jumps right into late winter/early 2027

I’d guess that US customers will have to wait quite a bit longer—even though Debrecen is planning a third shift.
One of the reasons for this is likely the tariffs imposed by your rotten orange.

This is what you get when you mix EU recalls, RHD bottlenecks, and Reddit panic, then stick it in the oven and call it “worldwide production analysis.

I’m with you. I was receiving the car yesterday and while we were going through the car with the dealer, it got a delivery stop. The reason for the delivery stop is an issue with the seat frame. They were not allowed to give me the car. More information and an actual recall number should come soon. Quite an experience picking up a new car.. Let’s hope there’s a quick fix for this.

Yep, and then you add bimmerpost for a bit of seasoning 😀

Yes, that man-child is impacting a lot more than car imports. We wake up to new horrors every day.
It could be a shift of priorities to ‘spread the love’ wider so that everyone gets something even if there are some delays. Everything that I’ve read over recent months is that the number of vehicles ordered far exceeds both expectations and supply. That’s great, but adds headaches for the logistics around actually getting enough product out there.

Even with three-shifts now running at Debrecen, it’s perfectly possible that hardware suppliers are contracted to ‘x’ kits per day. If demand means ‘x’ needs to be a lot bigger then suppliers may not be able to meet that so production hits a hard ceiling until the build kit manufacturers can increase output by adding their own extra shifts. Of course if those suppliers can’t meet, then we’re stuck.

For me personally it isn’t an issue and as a former Programme Manager I know this happens. Sometimes the planning assumptions are way off. In this case it is just possible that with EV demand falling, production assumptions were made. Then customers ordered far more than expected………
I don’t know if it’s luck or random or what. My March order of an m-sport pro which was first given an estimated delivery of December, then October - then September - my dealer told me last week it was likely delayed and pushing back out - today I got a confirmed build week in June and an estimated delivery in August 😲

Thank makes a lot of sense Rubidium, thanks
Yes, it seems to be a wide span of order/delivery combinations. I initially ordered my car the week after launch in September, but then purposely postponed my manufacturing slot to post March because I wanted the V2L, which only was available after March. I got a slot at week 13, and picked up the car (in north Sweden) at Monday week 18. I could have picked it up the week before too, but did not fit my schedule.

I'm positively surprised about this delivery time. Train through Europe, a few ship loads, and finally on truck to my dealer.

Must be an issue with the adaptive headlights and the remote control parking, since neither are being delivered to the US 😉
Well I hope mine isn’t delayed, I think if it moved to Feb I might flip to something else. Lots of other options out there and financially it works for me if I get in a new car sooner than later. I checked build last week and it was still the same week as before as an Aug build but anything can happen.

Would be frustrating but that’s life not going to worry about it but it might force a rethink if it was to be delayed. Life’s too short to wait over a year for a mid level car to be delivered.

I saw elsewhere that a number of customers were seeing their status go from 111 to 105 (pending reassignment of production week) so wondering if the seat frame issue is a systemwide concern or just impacting a specific batch? Time will tell
Anyone have any news on this?
Has anyone had their car delivered after Enhancement code 0061660900 became known?
Mine is at the dealer ready to be delivered but is blocked after this.
Anyone have any information on what it is and when it can be expected to be fixed?
Mine's been stuck at UK Killingholme BMW port processing centre since 16th May.
Awaiting the processing of Enhancement code 0061660900 (firmware).
BMW Genius says still scheduled for week 22 delivery to dealer - which is this week 😂
